Impruneta is famous for the handicraft of the brickwork. Boast of the city is the roman Basilica of Santa Maria in which, to the sides of the presbytery, there are two newspaper kiosk dating back to the XV century, they are made by Michelozzo and then embellished with earthen in glass windows by Luca della Robbia. In the chapel of the Santissimo Sacramento there is a “Cricifixion between Statues of Saints”; in the chapel of the Madonna there is a worshipped image of the Virgin, which was painted for a second time in 1700 and enclosed in a marble tabernacle decorated with the statues of Pietro and Paolo. On the altar there is a “politico” dating back to the XIV century made by Pietro Nelli and others.
Next to the church there is the Museum of the Treasure in which you can find manuscripts and illuminated codes dating back to the XIV-XVI century, jewelleries and also a marble bas-relief which represents the finding of the Madonna’s image.
